Higher-order modification of Steffensen's method for solving system of nonlinear equations (Q725818)

The article is devoted to the problem of constructing a higher-order iterative procedure of Steffensen's type for solving systems of nonlinear equations. Based on the optimal eighth-order convergence three-stage scheme by \textit{A. Cordero} et al. [Numer. Algorithms 72, No. 4, 937--958 (2016; Zbl 1347.65097)] for solving scalar equations, the authors construct a new four-stage iterative algorithm. The proposed method is extended for solving systems of nonlinear equations. For some initial conditions, the authors show that the local order of convergence is at least ten. Various numerical examples to demonstrate the efficiency of the method are presented.
