This paper concerns the relationship between tilted and cluster-tilted algebras. These are related via a surjective map \(C\mapsto C\ltimes E\), where \(E\) is the \(C,C\)-bimodule Ext\(^2(DC,C)\). The relationship between \(C\) and \(B=C\ltimes E\) has been studied before, but here the authors study this relationship using induction and coinduction. The most interesting result is Theorem 1.3, which starts from a given cluster-tilted algebra \(B\) (without specifying \(C\)), and asks what conditions on \(B\) guarantee that every \(B\)-module (or perhaps every \(B\)-module satisfying a certain property) can be obtained by induction or coinduction from some tilted algebra \(C\) via the above construction. The paper is very carefully written, and includes several illustrative examples with clear diagrams. This will be an interesting paper for specialists in finite-dimensional algebras.
