The authors study the standard static spacetimes, an important family of warped product Lorentzian manifolds generalizing the Einstein static universe. They impose conditions on the warping function \(f\), derived by some (energy and convergence related) physical assumptions and obtain results about: the sub-harmonicity of \(f\), the scalar curvature map, the conformal hyperbolicity, the conjugate points of the time-like geodesics and the time-like diameter.
