A notion of a \(m\)-quasi-Einstein metric on Lie groups is investigated. The smooth metric space \((M,g)\) is called \(m\)-quasi-Einstein, if there exist a vector field \(X\) and constants \(m\), \(\lambda\) such that \(\mathrm{Ric}^m_X = \lambda g\). Here, \(\mathrm{Ric}_X^m\) is a tensor which is a natural extension of the Ricci tensor. An \(m\)-quasi-Einstein metric is called trivial if \(X = 0\). It is proved in this article that every compact simple Lie groups except \(\mathrm{SU}(3), E_8\) and \(G_2\) admits non-trivial \(m\)-quasi-Einstein metrics which are naturally reductive. It is proved also that every compact simple Lie group except \(\mathrm{SU}(3)\), \(E_8\), \(F_4\), and \(G_2\) admit infinitely many non-trivial \(m\)-quasi-Einstein metrics. Then \(m\)-quasi-Einstein Lorentzian metrics are considered and it is proved that every compact simple Lie group admits a non-trivial \(m\)-quasi-Einstein Lorentzian metric. Every compact simple Lie group except \(E_8\), \(F_4\), and \(G_2\) admits infinitely many non-trivial \(m\)-quasi-Einstein Lorentzian metrics. Also, \(m\)-quasi-Einstein pseudo-Riemannian metrics on some non-compact simple Lie groups are constructed using \(m\)-quasi-Einstein pseudo-Riemannian metrics on a compact simple Lie group.
