Consider the first boundary value problem (1) \(L_{\epsilon}y\equiv \epsilon^ 2y''\)-a(x)y'\(+b(x)y=f(x)\), \(0<x<A\), \(y(0)=0\), \(y(A)=0\), \(0<\epsilon <<1\), where a, b, f are continuous sufficiently smooth functions in each of the half-closed intervals \(R_ k=[A_{k-1},A_ k)\), \(1\leq k\leq N\), \(A_{k-1}<A_ k\leq A\), \(A_ 0=0\). Denote \(y(x,\epsilon)\in C^ 1[0,A]\cap C^ 2(\cup_{k}A_{k-1}\), \(A_ k)\) the solution of eq. (1) and the approximation of the solution \(y^{(n)}(x,\epsilon)\). The different variants of the solution of eq. (1) and its approximation are systematically analyzed from the point of view of the sign of coefficients and their variations in sign, including the degenerative cases of eq. (1). The validity of the estimation \(| y(x,\epsilon)\)-y\({}^{(n)}(x,\epsilon)| \leq C\epsilon^ n\), C is a constant, for the given asymptotic expansion \(y^{(n)}(x,\epsilon)\) is derived.
