This paper is concerned with the dissipativity of the Volterra functional-differential equation \[ y'(t)=f(t,y(t),y(\cdot)),\quad t \geq 0,\quad y(t)= \varphi (t),\quad -\tau \leq t \leq 0, \] in a Hilbert space. A sufficient condition for dissipativity of one class of such equations is obtained. This result is applied to delay differential equations and integro-differential equations to obtain dissipativity results that are more general and deeper then previous results by \textit{C. Huang} and \textit{Q. Chang} [Math. Comput. Modelling 40, No. 11--12, 1285--1296 (2004; Zbl 1077.65079), \textit{C. Huang} and \textit{G. Chen}, Chin. J. Numer. Math.
