The authors analyze the existence and uniqueness of solutions to the linear Volterra equation of convolution type of the form \[ \varepsilon^{2}u''(t,\varepsilon)+u'(t,\varepsilon)=Au(t,\varepsilon)+\int_{0}^{t}K(t-s) Au(s,\varepsilon)ds+f(t,\varepsilon), \quad t\geq 0, \tag{1} \] \[ u(0,\varepsilon)=u_{0}(\varepsilon), \tag{2} \] \[ u'(0,\varepsilon)=u_{1}(\varepsilon), \tag{3} \] where \(A\) is a closed and densely defined linear operator on a Banach space \(X\) generating a twice integrated cosine family and \(K\) be a real-valued function. Is is also shown that the solution \(u_{\varepsilon}(t)\) of (1)-(3) converges as \(\varepsilon\to 0\) to the unique solution of \[ w'(t)=Aw(t)+\int_{0}^{t}K(t-s)Aw(s)ds+f(t), \quad t\geq 0,\quad w(0)=w_{0}. \]
