The authors first discuss two families of exceptional Laguerre polynomials called Type I and Type II and construct the self-adjoint operators generated by their corresponding second order differential expressions in the appropriate Hilbert spaces. Then they introduce the Type III exceptional Laguerre polynomials and study many of their properties. They compute the norms of these polynomials in the appropriate Hilbert space \(H\), they determine the location of their zeros and also discuss the asymptotic behavior of them. They also develop spectral properties of the second order Type III differential expression and in particular they determine the self-adjoint operator in \(H\) which has the above polynomials as eigenfunctions.
