The authors study normal affine varieties \(X\) of complexity one over a perfect field \(k\) with an action of the split torus \(\mathbb{T}\). Complexity is just the the difference in dimension \(\dim X-\dim\mathbb{T}\), for example when \(k\) is algebraically closed. Given such a variety, the authors classify all \(\mathbb{G}_a\) actions on \(X\) which are normalized by the \(\mathbb{T}\) action. The results are a bit technical and need more terminology to describe precisely. Many of the techniques closely follow toric geometry techniques.
