Norm of convolution by operator-valued functions on free groups

In the first part of the paper, the author gives a proof of Bożejko's non-commutative Khintchine inequality: For every discrete group \(G\), one has \(\| f\|_{L^{2p}}\leq C_p^{1/2p}\| f\|_{L^2}\) for every \(f\) whose support satisfies Leinert's condition [\textit{M. Bożejko}, Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 51, 407-412 (1975; Zbl 0321.43004)]. This proof shows that the Catalan numbers \(C_p={1\over p+1}{2p\choose p}\), which are the best constants, appear as the number of non-crossing pairings of sequences of elements \(x_1,\dots,x_{2p}\in G\) such that \(x_1x_2\dots x_{2p}=e\). The main result is in the second part. It generalizes the Haagerup-Pisier's inequality: If \(A\) is a \(C^\ast\)-algebra, \(F_n\) the free group with \(n\) generators, \(\lambda\) the left regular representation of \(F_n\), and \(S\) is the set of the words with length one, then: \[ \bigl\|\sum_{g\in S}\lambda(g)\otimes a_g\bigr\|_{C^\ast_\lambda(F_n)\otimes A}\leq 2\max\Bigl[\bigl\|\sum_{g\in S}a_g^\ast a_g\bigr\|^{1/2},\bigl\|\sum_{g\in S}a_g a_g^\ast\bigr\|^{1/2}\Bigr] \] [\textit{U. Haagerup} and \textit{G. Pisier}, Duke Math. J. 71, 889-925 (1993; Zbl 0803.46064)]. The author gives an inequality, where \(S\) is replaced by the set \(S_k\) of the words with length \(k\) (\(k\geq 1\)).
