P-adic Chaos and Random Number Generation
The authors study the \(p\)-adic analogue of two popular models of low-dimensional chaotic dynamics, the logistic map and the Smale horseshoe. The emphasis is on symbolic dynamics, and on the analysis of the maximal cycle length for finite approximations. The results are applied to the problem of generating pseudo-random numbers. The bibliography on \(p\)-adic dynamics is incomplete.
