Polynomial normal forms for ODEs near a center-saddle equilibrium point

From MaRDI portal

The paper is a study of local normal forms for a saddle-center equilibrium for general vector fields as well as Hamiltonian vector fields in the real phase space. In appropriate local coordinates, the germ of such vector field can be written as \[\N\dot x = Ax + \ldots, \ \ \dot y = By + \ldots, \N\]\Nwhere the eigenvalues of the matrix \(A\) have non-zero real parts, while the eigenvalues of the matrix \(B\) are pure imaginary, the dots stands for non-linear terms. The authors show that the germ of such vector field can be transformed into a normal form polynomial in the saddle variables by a finite smooth change of coordinates (for Hamiltonian vector fields, the preservation of the symplectic form is satisfied).\N\NThe reviewer takes the liberty of paying attention to the papers [\textit{V. S. Samovol}, Math. Notes 80, No. 2, 261--271 (2006; Zbl 1123.34032); Math. Notes 92, No. 6, 807--819 (2012; Zbl 1277.34041)] devoted to a similar problem.
