Abstract: We introduce and discuss the notion of naturally full functor. The definition is similar to the definition of separable functor: a naturally full functor is a functorial version of a full functor, while a separable functor is a functorial version of a faithful functor. We study general properties of naturally full functors. We also discuss when functors between module categories and between categories of comodules over a coring are naturally full.

Let \(F\colon{\mathcal C}\to{\mathcal D}\) be a functor, and let \({\mathcal F}\colon\Hom_{\mathcal C}(\cdot,\cdot)\to\Hom_{\mathcal D}(F(\cdot),F(\cdot))\) be the natural transformation taking \(f\) to \(F(f)\). The functor \(F\) is called naturally full if \(\mathcal F\) has a right inverse. General properties of naturally full functors are presented, and criteria for adjoint functors to be naturally full are given. Several examples are given, including restriction and extension of scalars functors for categories of modules, and functors associated to categories of comodules over corings.
