In this paper, the authors study the output-feedback stabilization problem for a semi-linear 1-d reaction-diffusion systems with Lipschitz terms. First, they divided the spatial region into \(m\) many sub-regions, the \(n\)-dimensional state variable can be regarded as a matrix of \(n\times m\). Next they design the observer for the partial differential system, in which there is at least one sensor at each segment so as to obtain system local information. Finally they propose an output-feedback law which is the collocated feedback, by the Lyapunov function method and the LMI's conditions, they prove that the closed-loop system is stable. Moreover, they propose an non-collocated feedback control law, by designing state observer and designing the dynamic controller based on the state of observer, constructing a more general Lyapunov function, they prove that stabilization of nonlinear partial differential equations (PDEs). As a comparison, by the simulations, they demonstrate that the piecewise controller with non-collocated feedback can greatly develop the smoothness and rapidity of system.
