Scaling arguments and diffusive growth
The author considers the problem of diffusive growth of a cluster by means of scaling arguments. He presents proofs and also discusses three laws relating the scaling exponents of the problem to one another and to the dimension of the cluster: (1) the N. G. Makarov law (1985) \(D = 1\) in case \(d=2\) only, (2) the L. Turkevich and H. Scher law (1985, 1986) \(D = 1 + \alpha _{min}\eta - \tau{\eta}\), and (3) the T. C. Halsey law (1987, 1988) \(D = \tau{2 + \eta} - \tau{\eta} + (2 - d).\) Here \(D\) is the fractal dimension of cluster, \(d\) is the dimension of cluster itself, \(\alpha\) is the local growth measure scaling exponent and \(\eta\) is the power of electric field in a growth probability. The scaling exponent \(\tau(q)\) is defined by the equality \(\frac {\int dw [P(w)]^q}{[\int dw P(w)]^q} = (\frac ra)^{\tau(q)}\) where \(P(w)\) is the normal electric field at a surface point \(w\) of the growing cluster.
