Simple obstructions and cone reduction
The intrinsic normal cone of a Deligne-Mumford stack is a fundamental object in enumerative geometry. In particular, the study of its support inside the intrinsic normal sheaf has been necessary in order to establish the foundations of the field and in developing important techniques, such as cosection localization. The author shows that the support of the intrinsic normal cone lies inside a natural subcone of the intrinsic normal sheaf. This allows for alternative proofs of cone reduction by a cosection and vanishing of simple obstructions for global semiregularity maps of sheaves.
