In this paper under review, the author combines Joyce's theory of derived differential geometry [\textit{D. Joyce}, ``D-manifolds and d-orbifolds: a theory of derived differential geometry'' (to appear)] and Kiem-Li's cosection localization method in algebraic geometry [\textit{Y.-H. Kiem} and \textit{J. Li}, J. Am. Math. Soc. 26, No. 4, 1025--1050 (2013; Zbl 1276.14083)] to define a cosection localization for derived manifolds. In particular, he showed stable pairs invariants of hyperkähler 4-folds as studied by [\textit{Y. Cao} et al., J. Eur. Math. Soc. (JEMS) 24, No. 2, 527--581 (2022; Zbl 1491.14077)] are zero. There is an alternative approach recently given by Kiem-Park [\textit{Y.-H. Kiem} and \textit{H. Park}, ``Localizing virtual cycles for Donaldson-Thomas invariants of Calabi-Yau 4-folds'', Preprint, \url{arXiv:2012.13167}] which also allows one to define reduced invariants which are usually nonzero.
