Let \(E\) be a complex Banach space and \({\mathcal B}(E)\) be the algebra of all linear bounded operators on \(E\). The Deddens algebra \({\mathcal D}_{T}\) associated with \(T\in {\mathcal B}(E)\) is the set of all operators \(X\in {\mathcal B}(E)\) for which there exists a constant \(M=M(X)>0\) such that \(\| T^{n}Xf\|\leq M\| T^{n}f\|\) for all \(n\in{\mathbb N}\) and \(f\in E\). A subspace \({\mathcal X}\subset {\mathcal B}(E)\) is said to be localizing if there exists a closed ball \(B\subset E\) such that \(0\not\in B\) and for every sequence \(\{ f_{n}\} \) in \(B\) there exist a subsequence \(\{ f_{n_{i}}\} \) and a sequence \(\{ X_{i}\} \) in \(\mathcal X\) such that \(\| X_{i}\|\leq1\) for all \(i\), and the sequence \(\{ X_{i}f_{n_{i}}\} \) is norm convergent to some nonzero vector. The following assertion is the main result of the paper. Theorem. Let \(T\in {\mathcal B}(E)\) be a nonzero quasinilpotent operator. If the Deddens algebra \({\mathcal D}_{T}\) is closed and localizing, then \(T\) has a nontrivial hyperinvariant subspace.
