The author describes the asymptotic regime for the nonlinear Schrödinger equation \(i\frac{\partial \psi }{\partial t}+\psi =\psi f(\left| \psi \right| ^{2})\), posed in \(\mathbb{R\times R}^{d}\) with the condition at infinity \(\left| \psi (t,x)\right| \rightarrow r_{0}>0\). Here \(f\) is a general nonlinearity which is supposed to be smooth and such that \( f(r_{0}^{2})=0\). The author recalls some classical examples of such nonlinear Schrödinger equations, among which is the Gross-Pitaevskii equation obtained when \(f(\rho )=\rho -1\). The author then introduces the Madelund transformation \(\psi =A\exp (i\phi )\) which carries this nonlinear Schrödinger equation to a hydrodynamical system with an additional quantum pressure \[ \begin{cases} \partial _{t}\rho +2\nabla \cdot (\rho U)=0 \\ \partial _{t}U+2U\cdot \nabla U+\nabla f(\rho )-\nabla (\frac{\Delta \sqrt{ \rho }}{\sqrt{\rho }})=0 \end{cases} \] when introducing the variables \((\rho , U)=(A^{2},\nabla \phi )\). The (KdV)/(KP-I) asymptotic regime for the above nonlinear Schrödinger equation may be deduced when considering the approximation \(\psi (t,x)=(1+\varepsilon ^{2}A_{\varepsilon }(t,z))\exp (i\phi _{\varepsilon }(t,z))\), \(\tau =\varepsilon ^{3}t\), \(z_{1}\equiv \varepsilon (x_{1}-\mathfrak{c} _{s}t)\), \(z_{\perp }=\varepsilon ^{2}x_{\perp }\). The author shows how the Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) or Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (KP) equations may be deduced from this regime and recalls the asymptotic behavior results obtained by \textit{F. Béthuel} et al. [Int. Math. Res. Not. 2009, No. 14, 2700--2748 (2009; Zbl 1183.35240), and Commun. Partial Differ. Equations 35, No. 1, 113--164 (2010; Zbl 1213.35367)]. The purpose of the present paper is to obtain precise estimates for the difference between the solution of this system and the solution of a weakly transverse Boussinesq system which may be associated to this system. The main result indeed proves first the existence of a continuous solution to the nonlinear Schrödinger equation and an estimate of order \(\varepsilon ^{2}\) for the difference between this solution and that of the weakly transverse Boussinesq system. For the proof, the author uses a WKB expansion method and he draws computations on the solution using properties of the operators which are associated.
