This paper addresses discrete symplectic systems and, in particular, the application of Weyl-Titchmarsh formalism to their study. The authors begin with a background discussion of discrete symplectic systems. They then describe regular boundary values for such systems that include separated general boundary conditions. They describe eigenvalues associated with self-adjoint boundary conditions. Next, the authors set up the primary Weyl-Tichmarsh formalism and describe the tools needed to discuss separated boundary conditions on a finite interval. They define the associated Weyl-Titchmash matrix-valued function as well as the Weyl disk and circe. The authors then show that matrices are elements of the Weyl disk are associated with certain regular boundary value problems. Elements of the Weyl circle correspond to regular boundary value problems associated with the primary discrete symplectic system on a finite interval with separated self-adjoint boundary conditions at the endpoints. Then the Herglotz property of the Weyl-Titchmash function is established. Finally, the authors establish a formula that associates the matrix-valued Weyl-Titchmarsh functions with certain square-summable solutions in the limit point and limit circle cases. Then Green's functions for the halfline are described for the limit point case.
