Varieties with ample Frobenius-trace kernel
From MaRDI portal
Let \(k\) be an algebraically closed field of characteristic \(p > 0\), and let \(X\) be a smooth projective variety over \(k\). Let \(\mathscr E_X\) be the dual of the cokernel of the Frobenius map \(\mathcal O_X \to F_* \mathcal O_X\). The authors show that if \(\dim X \le 3\) and \(\mathscr E_X\) is ample, then \(X\) is a Fano variety of Picard rank~\(1\). The converse problem is left open.\N\NThe authors also explain philosophically how this theorem should be seen as an analog of Kunz's theorem and Mori-Hartshorne's theorem.
