Topological structures in Colombeau algebras: Topological \(\widetilde{\mathbb C}\)-modules and duality theory (Q2572929): Difference between revisions

This is one of a series of topological papers of the author which investigate topological properties of algebras of generalized functions \(\mathcal G\) in the sense of J.\,F.\,Colombeau. These can be viewed as topological \(\widetilde{\mathbb C}\)-modules, \(\widetilde{\mathbb C}\) denoting the ring of Colombeau generalized complex numbers. The author's motivation originates from her work on generalized pseudo-differential operators, namely, on kernel theory related to the latter. The paper is not only concerned with topological features of particular constructions of Colom\-beau algebras (which nevertheless can be found in Section 3 in a very detailed discussion, including a number of elaborate examples). She rather investigates them from an abstract point of view by developing a theory of locally convex topological \(\widetilde{\mathbb C}\)-modules (Section 1). The theoretical core of the paper is Section 2 where the stage for duality theory of topological \(\widetilde{\mathbb C}\)-modules is set, the dual \(\mathcal L(\mathcal G, \widetilde{\mathbb C})\) is equipped with at least three locally convex topologies. A~theorem of completeness of the dual with respect to the strong topology as well as generalized versions of the Banach--Steinhaus theorem are obtained under suitable hypotheses on \(\mathcal G\). Further, the paper under review includes a discussion of continuity of \(\widetilde{\mathbb C}\)-linear maps \(T:\mathcal G_E\rightarrow \mathcal G\), where \(\mathcal G_E\) is the space of generalized functions based on a locally convex topological vector space \(E\). The paper ends with an elaboration of the topological dual \(\mathcal L(\mathcal G_E, \widetilde{\mathbb C})\), when \(E\) is a normed space.
