In spite of the work of many authors, the classification of minimal surfaces of general type with \(p_g=q=0\) is at the moment far from being complete. If one requires that the surface has some extra structure, e.g. it admits an automorphism of order 2 (an involution), it is in some cases possible to obtain a precise description. In the paper under consideration, the author takes this kind of approach and studies surfaces \(S\) with \(p_g (S)=q(S)=0\) and \(K_S^2=3\) admitting an involution \(\iota\) such that the bicanonical map of \(S\) does not factor through \(\iota\). He shows that the quotient surface \(S/\iota\) is either an Enriques surface or a properly elliptic surface, describes the branch locus and shows that both cases actually occur.
