Wavelet analysis on adeles and pseudo-differential operators (Q1934653): Difference between revisions

Harmonic analysis of complex-valued functions over the field of \(p\)-adic numbers and related structures is among the most actively growing parts of contemporary mathematical analysis. Within the last two decades, the progress in this field was concentrated in two interconnected directions -- the study of various classes of pseudo-differential equations and the theory of \(p\)-adic wavelets. In number theory, the most important applications of harmonic analysis deal not with \(p\)-adic fields but with the adele ring \(\mathbb A\) ``gluing'' all the \(p\)-adics. Recently the adelic setting appeared in various branches of mathematical physics -- from statistical mechanics to quantum cosmology. Therefore it is a timely task to develop pseudo-differential operators and wavelets for the adelic situation. So far, very little was known about both subjects in the adelic setting. The paper under review addresses these problems successfully. The first essential result is the representation of the space \(L_2(\mathbb A)\) as the infinite tensor product (with stabilization) of spaces \(L_2(\mathbb Q_p)\) where \(p\) runs over all primes including \(p=\infty\), with \(\mathbb Q_\infty =\mathbb R\). This representation leads to the introduction and study of wavelet bases in \(L_2(\mathbb A)\). Their construction is built on the existing theory of \(p\)-adic multiresolution analysis; for the latter see \textit{V. Shelkovich} and \textit{M. Skopina} [J. Fourier Anal. Appl. 15, No. 3, 366--393 (2009; Zbl 1192.42024)] and \textit{S. Albeverio} et al., [Theory of \(p\)-adic distributions. Linear and nonlinear models. The authors also introduce and investigate adelic counterparts of the Lizorkin spaces, an important tool in the theory of \(p\)-adic pseudo-differential equations. All the constructions are united in the wavelet construction of eigenfunctions for various classes of adelic pseudo-differential operators.
