Root graded Lie algebras play an important role in the infinite-dimensional Lie theory, and several authors (Berman, Moody, Neher, Benkart, Allison, Gao, etc.) have been extending the notion of root system to cover broader classes of such Lie algebras. In the paper [J. Lie Theory 22, No. 2, 397--435 (2012; Zbl 1292.17027)] the author gave a complete description of Lie algebras graded by a non-necessarily reduced infinite irreducible locally finite root system \(R\) in terms of the so-called coordinate quadruple. Now, in this paper she proves that a perfect central extension of such a Lie algebra with coordinate quadruple \(\mathfrak q\) is again an \(R\)-graded Lie algebra with the same coordinate quadruple, and gives a complete description of these perfect central extensions. Moreover, the author completely determines the universal central extensions of a Lie algebras graded by an irreducible locally finite root system.
