The authors study the semilinear wave equation \(\partial _{t}^{2}u-\Delta u\pm (|x|^{-3}\ast |u|^{2})u=0\) posed in \(\mathbb{R}\times \mathbb{R}^{d}\), \( d\geq 4\).\ Initial data \(u(t_{0},\cdot )=u_{0}\in \overset{.}{H}^{1/2}( \mathbb{R}^{d})\) and \(u_{t}(t_{0},\cdot )=u_{1}\in \overset{.}{H}^{-1/2}( \mathbb{R}^{d})\) are imposed. The authors first define the notion of strong solution and then that of maximal-lifespan solution on the interval \(I\) if this solution cannot be extended to any strictly larger interval. Finally, they characterize the notions of forward or backward blowup for a maximal-lifespan solution. The main result of the paper proves that if \( u:I\times \mathbb{R}^{d}\rightarrow \mathbb{R}\)\ is\ a maximal-lifespan solution such that \[ \left\| (u,u_{t})\right\| _{L_{t}^{\infty }(I; \overset{.}{H}^{1/2}(\mathbb{R}^{d})\times \overset{.}{H}^{-1/2}(\mathbb{R} ^{d}))}<+\infty, \] then it is global and scatters in the sense that \[ \left\| \left( \begin{matrix} u(t) \\ \overset{.}{u}(t) \end{matrix} \right) -V_{0}(t)\left( \begin{matrix} v_{0}^{\pm } \\ v_{1}^{\pm } \end{matrix} \right) \right\| _{\overset{.}{H}^{1/2}(\mathbb{R}^{d})\times \overset{.}{ H}^{-1/2}(\mathbb{R}^{d})}\rightarrow 0\quad\text{ as }t\rightarrow \pm \infty , \] for some \((v_{0}^{\pm },v_{1}^{\pm })\in \overset{.}{H}^{1/2}(\mathbb{R} ^{d})\times \overset{.}{H}^{-1/2}(\mathbb{R}^{d})\) and \[ \left[V_{0}(t)=\left( \begin{matrix} \overset{.}{K}(t) & K(t) \\ \overset{..}{K}(t) & \overset{.}{K}(t) \end{matrix} \right) \right], \] with \(K(t)=\frac{\sin (t\omega )}{\omega }\), \(\omega =(-\Delta )^{1/2}\). For the proof, the authors first establish a local in time existence result with appropriate uniform estimates, using a Strichartz type estimate. Then, they prove the equivalence between their existence result and the equality \(E_{c}=+\infty \), where \(E_{c}\) is the unique critical point of some function \(L\) defined on \(\mathbb{R}^{+}\) and associated to the solution of the above-described problem. Arguing by contradiction, the authors then prove that the failure of the existence problem would lead to radial almost periodic solutions (modulo symmetries). Finally, they analyze possible radial almost periodic solutions (scenarios) with the help of Duhamel's formula. The paper ends with the proof of a regularity result for this global solution, which is based on a bootstrap argument and on a double Duhamel trick.
