A convex projective structure on a compact surface \(S\) is a realization of \(S\) as a quotient of a properly convex open set in the real projective plane by a free and cocompact action of a group of projective transformations. Labourie and Loftin showed that the moduli space of these structures can be identified with the bundle over the space of marked Riemann surface structures on \(S\) where the fiber over a marked Riemann surface \(X\) is the bundle \(C(X)\) of holomorphic cubic differentials. The main result of the present paper is that the space of degree-\(d\) polynomial cubic differentials on the complex plane can be identified with the space of projective equivalence classes of oriented convex polygons with \(d+3\) vertices.
