The authors are concerned with the quasilinear equation \(-\Delta_p u+|\nabla u|^q=0\) in a domain \(\Omega\subset {\mathbb R}^N\), \(p\geq q>p-1\). In the first part of the paper the authors are concerned with universal a priori bounds on the gradient in terms of the distance to the boundary function. Next, a full classification of the isolated singularities of non-negative solutions is obtained. A classification of isolated singularities for negative solutions is also investigated. A removability result in terms of Bessel capacity is next obtained. The last part of the work is devoted to various extensions of these results to noncompact manifolds; in this setting, the authors obtain various Liouville type results.
