In the paper, the authors establish an adaptive fault-tolerant control for stabilizing and controlling a coupled flexible Timoshenko arm influenced by actuator failures, backlash-like hysteresis, and external disturbances. Basing on the method of the Lyapunov functions, the authors propose a strategy that guarantees the uniformly bounded stability in the controlled system. Numerical examples are also presented to illustrate the efficacy of the suggested method.
