In an earlier paper of the authors, [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 358, No. 3, 1165--1185 (2006; Zbl 1081.35104)], the Cauchy problem for the nonlinear damped wave equation with a critical Fujita exponent for space dimensions \(n=1,2,3\) has been considered. Conditions for the existence of a unique global solution have been there shown. In the present paper the same Cauchy problem is investigated in higher space dimension. In case initial data satisfy some special assumptions, one proves the existence of a unique global solution satisfying a specific asymptotic property. Estimates for the solution to Cauchy problem are obtained. The idea of proof is based on decomposing the equation into the high and low frequency parts and performing computations on each one. | |||
