    The authors present a general Hopf bifurcation theory for the following non-densely defined abstract Cauchy problem \[ du(t)/dt=Au(t)+F(\mu,u(t)),~ t\geq 0 u(0)=x\in D(A), \] where \(A:D(A)\subset X\rightarrow X\) is a linear operator on a Banach space \(X, F:\mathbb R\times D(A)\rightarrow X\) is a \(C^{k}\) map with \(k\geq 2\), and \(\mu \in \mathbb{R}\) is the bifurcation parameter.
