Consider the cubic discrete nonlinear Schroedinger equation (DNLS) on a grid \(h\mathbb{Z}\) of stepsize \(h > 0\). The author proves a polynomial bound on the growth of the homogeneous discrete Sobolev norms, uniformly with respect to the stepsize \(h\) of the grid. This bound is based on a construction of higher modified energies which provide a control of the growth of the \(H^n\) norm by \(t^{\alpha n + \beta}\) for some \(\alpha, \beta \in \mathbb{R}\). The construction essentially relies on algebraic considerations without using any dispersion effect. The bound holds for both the focusing and defocusing DNLS equation.
