The Krull filtration of the category of unstable modules over the Steenrod algebra (Q2509929): Difference between revisions

Let \(p\) be a prime number, let \(A\) be the mod \(p\) Steenrod algebra and let \(\mathcal{U}\) be the category of unstable \(A\)-modules. Let us recall that the Krull filtration of the category \(\mathcal{U}\) is the increasing sequence of localizing subcategories \(\mathcal{U}_{0} \subset ... \subset \mathcal{U}_{k} \subset .....\) recursively defined as follows: \(\mathcal{U}_{0}\) is the full subcategory of locally finite unstable \(A\)-modules, and for \(k > 0\), \(\mathcal{U}_{k}\) is the full subcategory of unstable \(A\)-modules which project to a locally finite object in the quotient category \(\mathcal{U} / \mathcal{U}_{k-1}\). In this paper, the author rewrites the proofs of the main results and properties of the Krull filtration of \(\mathcal{U}\) starting by its characterization in terms of Lannes' \(T\)-functor given by \textit{L. Schwartz} [Algebr. Geom. Topol. 1, 519--548 (2001; Zbl 1007.55014)]. The Krull filtration of \(\mathcal{U}\) has been used by many authors (see [\textit{N. J. Kuhn}, Ann. Math.
