The author constructs a class of non-graded infinite-dimensional simple Lie algebras over a field \(\mathbb F\) of characteristic zero. First, an algebra \(\mathcal A = \mathcal A (\Gamma,J)\) is constructed where \(\Gamma\) is an additive subgroup of \(\mathbb F^4\) and \(J= J_1 \times J_2 \times J_3 \times J_4\) with \(J_p\) either \(\{ 0\}\) or the nonnegative integers, and \(\mathcal A\) has basis elements index by \(\Gamma \times J\) and multiplication of basis elements achieved by adding indices. There are additional restrictions on \(\Gamma\) and \(J\), including requiring \(\Gamma\) to contain \(\sigma = (1,0,1,0)\) and \(\delta = (0,0,\delta_3,0)\) for \(\sigma_3\) a fixed nonzero element of \(\mathbb F\). \(\mathcal A\) is then made into a Lie algebra by defining a Lie product utilizing a combination of the previously defined multiplication, the elements \(\sigma\) and \(\delta\), and certain derivations of \(\mathcal A\). \(\mathcal B = \mathcal B (\Gamma,J,\delta)\) is then the derived subalgebra \([\mathcal A,\mathcal A]\). The author proves the simplicity of \(\mathcal B\), gives some examples, and, for \(\mathbb F\) algebraically closed, determines the isomorphism classes of such algebras and their structure space.
