There is a well-known relation between the theory of multiple orthogonal polynomials on the complex plane and the spectral theory of banded operators of the Hessenberg type via their Weyl functions. The in a way simplest such operator is of the form \(A_0=\| a_{ij}\|\) with \[ a_{i,i+1}=1, \quad a_{i+m,i}=1,\quad a_{ij}=0 \quad\text{otherwise.} \] The main result of the present paper states that the intersection of the spectra of all such operators having the same set of Weyl functions as \(A_0\) coincides with the common support \(S\) of the spectral measures for this operator.
