This paper considers the Neumann initial-boundary value problem for the Keller-Segel system with logistic-type dampening: \[ \begin{cases} u_t= \Delta u- \nabla \cdot (u\nabla v)+ \lambda u - \mu u^{\kappa},\\ 0= \Delta v- \bar{m}(t)+u, \quad \bar{m}(t)=\frac{1}{|\Omega|} \int_\Omega u(\cdot, t), \end{cases} \] in smooth bounded domains \(\Omega\subset \mathbb{R}^{n}, n\geq 1\). The main contribution of this paper is to identify that the exponent \(\kappa=2\) is actually critical in the four and higher dimensional setting. When \(n\geq 4, \kappa\in(1,2)\) and \(\mu>0\), or \(n\geq5, \kappa=2\) and \(\mu\in(0,n-4/n)\), the author constructed a nonnegative initial datum \(u_0\in C^0(\bar{\Omega})\) with \(\int_\Omega u_0= m_0\) for which the corresponding solution of the system blow up in finite time. Besides, in 3D, the author obtained finite-time blow-up for \(\kappa\in(1,3/2)\). The proof of the theorem is delicate and seems to be right. This is a great work. The paper is well organized with a complete list of relevant references. The presentation of the paper is very clear. However, the conditions of \(\kappa, \mu\) and \(n\) may be well improved. This will arouse more interest to relevant researchers to study the above system extensively.
