In this paper, the authors construct extensions of Varopolous type for functions in \(\mathrm{BMO}(E)\), where \(E\) can be any uniformly rectifiable set of codimension one. For an open set \(\Omega\subset\mathbb R^{n+1}\) satisfying the corkscrew condition with \(n\)-UR boundary, the authors prove that for any function \(f\in \mathrm{BMO}(\partial \Omega)\) there exists an extension \(V=V_f\) in \(\Omega\) such that the following hold: \begin{itemize} \item[(i)] \(V\in C^\infty(\Omega)\) and \(|\nabla V(X)|\le C \|f\|_{\mathrm{BMO}(\partial\Omega)} [\mathrm{dist}(X,\partial\Omega)]^{-1}\) for all \(X\in\Omega\); \item[(ii)] \(\lim_{Y\to x\ N. T.} V(Y)=f(x)\) for \(\sigma\)-almost all \(x\in\partial\Omega\), where \(\lim_{Y\to x\ N. T.}\) stands for the non-tangential convergence and \(\sigma\) is the surface measure on \(\partial\Omega\); \item[(iii)] \(|\nabla V(Y)|\,dY\) is a Carleson measure, that is, \[\sup_{x\in\partial\Omega, r>0}\frac 1{r^n}\int\!\!\!\!\int_{B(x,r)\cap \Omega} |\nabla V(Y)|\, dY \le C \|f\|_{\mathrm{BMO}(\partial\Omega)}.\] \end{itemize} To achieve this, the authors first replace \(\mathrm{BMO}\) and show the above results for \(L^\infty\) functions, and then extended them to the above \(\mathrm{BMO}\) result by using Garnett's \(\mathrm{BMO}\)-decomposition lemma.
