Global dynamics in a chemotaxis system involving nonlinear indirect signal secretion and logistic source (Q6180856): Difference between revisions

Well-posedness and long term behaviour are studied for the parabolic-parabolic-elliptic chemotaxis system with nonlinear indirect signal production and logistic growth \begin{align*} \partial_t u & = \operatorname{div}\big( \varphi(u)\nabla u - \psi(u)\nabla v\big) + au - bu^\gamma \quad\text{in } (0,\infty)\times\Omega, \\ \partial_t v & = \Delta v -v + w^{\gamma_1} \quad\text{ in } (0,\infty)\times\Omega, \\ 0 & = \Delta w - w + u^{\gamma_2} \quad\text{in } (0,\infty)\times\Omega, \end{align*} supplemented with no-flux boundary conditions and non-negative initial conditions \((u_0,v_0)\in C^\theta(\bar{\Omega})\times W^{1,\infty}(\Omega)\), where \(\Omega\) is a smooth bounded domain of \(\mathbb{R}^n\), \(n\ge 1\). The parameters \((a,b,\gamma_1,\gamma_2,\gamma)\) are positive with \(\gamma>1\) and there are \((a_0,b_0)\in (0,\infty)^2\) and \((\alpha,\beta)\in\mathbb{R}^2\) such that \[ \varphi(s) \ge a_0 (1+s)^\alpha, \quad |\psi(s)|\le b_0 s (s+1)^{\beta-1}, \qquad s\ge 0\,. \] Conditions on the parameters and the size of \(\|u_0\|_{L^1}\) are provided for a global and bounded classical solution to exist. In addition, when \(\gamma-1 = \gamma_2 = \kappa > 0\) and \(\gamma_1=1\), conditions on the parameters are identified such that there is a global and bounded classical solution which converges to the spatially homogeneous steady state \(\big((a/b)^{1/\kappa},a/b,a/b)\) as \(t\to\infty\) at an exponential rate. In particular, \(b\) needs to be large enough.
