Busemann's theorem states that the intersection body of an origin-symmetric convex body in \({\mathbb R}^n\) is also convex. The authors show an analog of Busemann's theorem for \(p\)-convex bodies: the intersection body of an origin-symmetric \(p\)-convex body is \(q\)-convex for all \(q\) smaller or equal to a suitable constant \(q_0=q_0(p,n)\). It is shown that the obtained \(q_0\) is asymptotically best possible. Similar results are proved more generally in measure spaces with log-concave and \(s\)-concave measures. As a byproduct of the proofs, high dimensional \(p\)-convex bodies \(K\) are constructed whose intersection bodies are much farther away from the Euclidean ball than \(K\).
