Let \(\mathbb{A}\) denote the ring of adeles of a number field and let \(G\) stand for either a symplectic or a split special orthogonal group of rank \(n\), or a split general spin group of rank \(n+1\). We denote by \(F\) a local field of characteristic \(0\) and by \(\psi\) a nontrivial additive character of \(F\). Let \(\pi \in G(F)\) and \(\tau \in \mathrm{GL}_k(F)\) denote a pair of irreducible admissible representations, and assume that \(\tau\) is generic. In the paper under the review, the authors define a local \(\gamma\)-factor \(\gamma(s, \pi \times \tau, \psi)\) and provide a complete description of their properties. This enables the authors to define local \(L\)- and \(\varepsilon\)-factors at all places. Consequently, they obtain the global completed \(L\)-function as the Euler product of the local \(L\)-functions. The functional equation and the main properties of the global \(L\)-function are also provided.
