Adaptive modal parameters identification for collocated position feedback vibration control

From MaRDI portal

In the last decade much research have been devoted to active vibration control of flexible systems which allows to control (to modify in a prescribed way) some system modes. One of the most discussed ways in achieving this goal consists in implementing the so-called collocated position feedback. This method uses a feedback matrix which carries a signal collected by the sensor, filters it adequately and feeds it to an actuator. The validity of the method was rigorously proved and the global stability is insured. However, to apply this procedure one must know the modal parameters of the system. For ready-constructed systems, one needs a method to obtain the modal parameters through in-service experiments. The contribution of the paper lies in proposing some adaptive procedures to realize collocated position feedback for the case when the system is not previously well known, i.e. its modal parameters are not accurately known. Some numerical experiments whose results are presented show the validity of the proposed procedures. The paper is undoubtly of high interest for those working in the area of active control of large flexibe systems.
