Cone-volume measures of polytopes

From MaRDI portal

Abstract: The cone-volume measure of a polytope with centroid at the origin is proved to satisfy the subspace concentration condition. As a consequence a conjectured (a dozen years ago) fundamental sharp affine isoperimetric inequality for the U-functional is completely established -- along with its equality conditions.

The authors investigate cone-volume measures of convex polytopes with centroid at the origin, which are Borel measures on the unit sphere corresponding to given convex bodies. Cone-volume measures were studied in recent years in various contexts. They prove that such measures (for polytopes) satisfy the so-called subspace concentration condition. From this the authors derive an important affine isoperimetric inequality for the U-functional, characterizing the equality case (holding iff the polytope is an affine cube). The relations to the \(L_p\)-Minkowski problem are discussed, too.
