On algebras of Toeplitz matrices (Q1102347)

A (scalar) Toeplitz matrix is a square matrix over the complex numbers which is constant along all diagonals parallel to the main diagonal. The fundamental question considered is: When is the inverse of a Toeplitz matrix Toeplitz? The author generalizes the known results and adapts them to deal with block-Toeplitz matrices whose entries are \(m\times m\) matrices. The title of the paper refers to a result in the scalar case; the maximal algebras of scalar Toeplitz matrices are described.
