The paper studies a qualitative differential game (``game of kind''), that is, a player's objective is of the YES or NO type with respect to achieving a payoff in terms of a certain property of the trajectories of the kinematic equations \(x=f(x,u^ 1,u^ 2)\). Initially, problems of controllability and strong controllability are investigated. Next, a strategy selection procedure for the players are established through a decomposition of the state space into winning, mutual kill and draw regions. The turret game in \textit{M. D. Ardema, M. Heymann} and \textit{N. Rajan} [J. Optimization Theory Appl. 46, 391-398 (1985; Zbl 0564.90100)] is used as a specific example for which some numerical illustrations also are provided. Finally, an analysis for determining the barrier between (strong) winning regions are presented, using a Lyapunov sufficiency approach.
