Slicely countably determined sets (SCD sets in short) where introduced in [\textit{A. Avilés} et al., Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 362, No. 9, 4871--4900 (2010; Zbl 1214.46004)]. A bounded subset $A$ of a Banach space $X$ is called SCD if there exists sequence of slices $S_n\subset A$ such that each slice of $A$ contains one of the $S_n$ or, equivalently, if for every $B\subset X$ such that $B\cap S_n\neq \emptyset$ for all $n\in \mathbb{N}$, it holds that $A$ is contained in the closed convex hull of $B$. This notion has been used profusely for applications to numerical index, the Daugavet property, and related topics. A very recent and detailed reference for this is [\textit{V. Kadets} et al., Spear operators between Banach spaces. Cham: Springer (2018; Zbl 1415.46002)]. In this very interesting paper, the authors solve in the negative some natural questions about preserving being SCD by operations of union, intersection and Minkowski sum. The authors are even able to produce all the negative examples to be centrally symmetric. Besides, they are also able to produce an example of an almost SCD set which is not SCD (a bounded subset $A$ of $X$ is almost SCD if there is a sequence of slices $S_n$ of $A$ satisfying that, for each $B\subset X$ with $B\cap S_n\neq \emptyset$ for every $n\in \mathbb{N}$, it holds that $A$ is contained in the absolutely closed convex hull of $B$.) The paper finishes with a section devoted to post some open problems.
