There is a good amount of papers that consider linear and nonlinear extensions of the Banach-Stone theorem. In particular, many of them study norm conditions that ensure that a map is an algebra isomorphism or a weighted composition operator. A good account of them can be found in the references of the present paper. In this paper, the following condition is considered: let \(\alpha_{0} \in \mathbb{C}\setminus \{ 0\}\), let \(A\) and \(B\) be Banach function algebras and let \(\rho_{i} : \Omega_{i} \rightarrow A\), \(\tau_{i} : \Omega_{i} \rightarrow B\), \(i=1,2\), be surjections such that \[ \left\| \rho_{1} (\omega_{1}) \rho_{2}(\omega_{2})+\alpha_{0} \right\| = \left\| \tau_{1} (\omega_{1}) \tau_{2}(\omega_{2})+\alpha_{0} \right\| , \quad \text{for all }\omega_{i} \in \Omega_{i}, \;i =1,2, \] where \(\Omega_{1}\), \(\Omega_{2}\) are two non-empty sets. The author gives a complete description of such maps in several interesting cases: \(C_{0}(X)\), \(\text{Lip}_{0}(X)\), the Figà-Talamanca-Herz algebra \(A_{p}(X)\) and abstract Segal algebras of \(A_p(X)\), all of them non-unital algebras. This result is used to give a description of surjective maps \(T_{i} : A \rightarrow B\) such that \[ \left\| T_{1} f T_{2} g +\alpha_{0} \right\| = \left\| fg + \alpha_{0} \right\| \] for all \(f\) and \(g\) in \(A\) as weighted composition operators.
