We recall that a real Banach space \(X\) is said to be nice if, for any Banach space \(Y\) and for any extreme point of the unit ball of \({\mathcal L}( Y,X)\), \(T^\ast\) maps extreme points of the dual unit ball to extreme points. The authors show that, if \(X\) is a Banach space such that \(X^\ast\) is isometric to an \(L^1(\mu)\) space and points in the weak\(^\ast\)-closure of the set of extreme points of the dual unit ball are positive scalar multiples of extreme points (the so-called \(G\)-space) and is also a nice Banach space, then it is isometric to \(c_0(I)\). The authors also give sufficient conditions in terms of extreme points of the dual unit ball for a space to be not nice.
