Ul'yanov and Nikol'skii-type inequalities (Q1775010)

The authors provide an extensive investigation of various Ul'yanov-type inequalities. The Ul'yanov-type inequalities for \(L_p(\mathbb T^d)\), \(0<p\leq q\leq\infty\), are summarized in Section 2. An Ul'yanov-type result for \(L_p[-1,1]\) in relation to \(\omega_{\varphi}^{r}(f,t)_p\), \(0<p< q\leq\infty\) is presented in Section 3 and proved in Section 5. Analogous results are proved for \(L_p(\mathbb R)\) in Section 7. The paper includes numerous additional results (which are too technical to cite here in detail): Ul'yanov-type inequality related to approximation with Freud weights (Section 9), \(K\)-functionals that measure smoothness on the sphere (Section 10) and weighted approximation with Jacobi weights (Section 11).
