For a finite-dimensional Lie algebra \(\mathfrak{g}\) over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero, denote by \(i(\mathfrak{g})\) the index of \(\mathfrak{g}\) and by \(\mathrm{rank\,}\mathfrak{g}\) the dimension of a maximal torus in the Lie algebra \(\mathrm{Der\,}\mathfrak{g}\) of derivations of \(\mathfrak{g}\). In the present paper, the author completes the description, started in [J. Algebra 321, No. 4, 1293--1312 (2009; Zbl 1242.17013)], of the Poisson center of the symmetric algebra \(S(\mathfrak{g})\) for all indecomposable nilpotent Lie algebras \(\mathfrak{g}\) of dimension at most seven by considering the remaining case in which \(i(\mathfrak{g})>\mathrm{rank\,}\mathfrak{g}\). Moreover, for each Lie algebra of the list he provides a polynomial, strongly complete maximal Poisson commutative subalgebra of \(S(\mathfrak{g})\) whose generators have degrees at most 2, thereby proving a conjecture by Milovanov for nilpotent Lie algebras of dimension at most seven. These results carry over to the enveloping algebra \(U(\mathfrak{g})\) of \(\mathfrak{g}\).
