First the authors provide definitions of the various notions used throughout the paper and prove a highly technical result, Lemma 6.5 (with carefully provided details to support each justification in the proof) and the main result: ``If a Hausdorff paracompactum has a nontrivial component then none of its Čech systems can be an approximate inverse system''. This result is generalized by showing that if a Hausdorff paracompactum has at least one nontrivial quasicomponent then none of its Čech systems can be an inverse system and none can support the structure of an approximate inverse system (this is a corollary that follows from the main result -- Theorem 6.4).
